Video Security and Liability
By Brad | February 14, 2009
Crime was not really an issue for many when they were kids. Parents would allow you to stay outside past when it became dark. You could travel safely to visit friends down the street and there were no internet stalkers to worry about.
You could play freely and your parents didn’t feel the need to worry about everything you did or everywhere you went. You trusted your parents to be able to keep you safe and you were not concerned with being hurt or made into a victim. You didn’t even worry when you talked to strangers, or if you went door to door to sell candy bars for a fund raiser at school.
Unfortunately, things are no longer like they used to be. You have to watch your kids constantly, from fear of being hurt or someone taking advantage of them. Bullies have gone a step further than just verbal abuse. They now attack and try to physically hurt people.
As a parent, it seems much harder to protect your child than it appeared to be 20 years ago. Thus, video security is becoming a larger and larger part of our lives for the safety of our children.
Even schools are using video surveillance systems and are taking responsibility. They are monitoring student action for liability purposes as well for safety reasons. Day cares are utilizing video systems to ensure abuse does not occur and senior homes are often monitored as well. All in all, video security and liability is something which won’t likely go away anytime soon.
